Chapter Ten

Glad his hands were insured for a ridiculous amount of money since he’d busted his knuckles twice, Logan helped Garrison carry the four handmade tables with their sixteen matched set chairs from the shop to secure them inside the back of the cargo trailer. Wrapped and stacked they nearly filled the enclosed flat bed, but it was clear Garrison knew what he was doing as everything fit with room to spare. They each grabbed a barn type door and closed them before Garrison slid the bar home. Finally they snapped the padlocks into place.

“Bye, guys!”

Logan turned and smiled at Rayne and then sent Haven one as well, but she still wasn’t talking to him and didn’t smile back. He turned to get in the passenger seat of the truck since two could play that game. He sure hoped she came back from helping Rayne shop for a car in a better mood. Living with a woman you desperately wanted to taste again who gave you endless hours of the silent treatment was worse than living alone.

He watched as Garrison’s woman planted a long deep kiss on her man, and he felt a moment of envy and then decided he was being a shit. If he was going to fix this, and he sure as hell wanted to, he was better off doing it now, rather than later. Logan stepped back out of the truck and walked past the couple who had turned to watch him. Garrison had a grin on his lips. Rayne’s gaze held a warning that said he was biting off more than he could chew.

Logan ignored both and approached Rayne’s rental car. Haven sat in the passenger seat and looked at him like he was lower than slug feces. He overlooked that as he was on a mission that had him pulling her door open, grabbing her arm, and pulling her out of the seat. Since he figured he probably deserved it, he also ignored her less than ladylike protests.

But enough was enough. He locked her in his left arm and captured her jaw with his right hand before taking her mouth with his own and holding on until she stopped fighting him. When he felt her relax he eased up, and then changed the kiss from dominating to adoring, hoping she got the message.

The blinding pain that forced him to double over only made sense when his knees hit the ground. He cupped his balls and choked back the bile rising up his throat as he moaned and rocked. He looked up at Haven in too much pain to express himself. Garrison and Rayne were instantly over him blocking her from view.

“Get her out of here!”

Logan saw the hurt and shock in Rayne’s eyes, and wanted to tell Garrison not to bark at her like that, he just couldn’t form any words yet. He shook his head, trying to communicate, but neither one was looking at him. Garrison was instantly contrite and apologetic, but Rayne ignored him as she climbed in the rental car and told Haven to do the same.
